In a first-round matchup at the Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conferences (HBCUAC) 2025 Hope Credit Union Basketball Championships, the University of The Virgin Islands Buccaneers suffered a defeat at the hands of the Wiley Wildcats, with a final score of 95-72 at the Birthright Alumni Hall in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Despite a valiant effort, the Buccaneers were unable to overcome the lead established by the Wildcats.
Junior guard Amayoa’ah Phillips has once again showcased his exceptional talent by being named to the All-Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Second Team during the conference’s award ceremony at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This latest accolade adds to Phillips' impressive list of achievements this season, making it the sixth time he has been honored by the conference.
The University of the Virgin Islands' Buccaneer men's basketball team is gearing up to face off against the Wiley University Wildcats in the opening round of the 2025 Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Hope Credit Union Basketball Championship. The tournament will take place at the Birthright Alumni Hall on the campus of Stillman University in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from February 25 to March 2.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Buccaneers stunned Philander Smith University 72-69 in a heavily contested rematch at the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center on Tuesday night. The last time the two teams faced off, Philander Smith was victorious 70-54 on the Panthers' home floor.
