Amayoa’ah Phillips Named to All-HBCUAC Second Team

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama, February 26, 2025 – Junior guard Amayoa'ah Phillips has once again showcased his exceptional talent by being named to the All-Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Second Team during the conference's award ceremony at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This latest accolade adds to Phillips' impressive list of achievements this season, making it the sixth time he has been honored by the conference.

Throughout the season, Phillips has received five weekly conference awards, including three Newcomer of the Week titles and two Offensive Player of the Week awards. However, his recent recognition as part of the All-HBCUAC Second Team is the most significant yet.

Phillips currently stands as the second-leading scorer in the HBCUAC, averaging an impressive 23.0 points per game. Additionally, he ranks sixth overall in scoring in the NAIA. With a shooting percentage of 47.8% from the field, 35.7% from three-point range, and 81.5% from the free-throw line, Phillips has proven to be a versatile and efficient player. This season, he scored a total of 482 points, placing him fourth in points scored in the HBCUAC.

Notably, Phillips achieved the 30-point mark in five games this season, including a remarkable stretch of three consecutive 30-point performances against HBCUAC opponents. One standout game was against Tougaloo, where Phillips scored 21 points after entering the game in the second half. On the defensive end, he recorded 38 steals, averaging 1.8 per game, tying him for the fourth best in the HBCUAC alongside his teammate Chad Molloy.

Joining Phillips on the All-HBCUAC Second Team are Antonio Patterson of Tougaloo University, Cali Davis of Wilberforce University, Keshawn Evans of Voorhees University, and Oakwood University's Jordan Bell.
