UVI Basketball Tips Off 2024-25 Season with Buccaneer Madness on October 25
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands, October 21, 2024 – The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) men's and women's basketball teams will host Buccaneer Madness on October 25 at the Elridge Wilburn Blake Sports and Fitness Center. This year's edition of Buccaneer Madness will be the second installment of the successful event introduced to Buccaneer fans in 2023.
Both men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced and participate in separate 3-point shooting contests. Each team will compete in an intrasquad scrimmage, giving fans the first live look at the 2024-2025 rosters. The fan favorite, slam dunk contest, will conclude the night with select participants from the Buccaneer men's basketball team.
"I am very excited to host the second edition of Buccaneer Madness," said UVI director of athletics Dr. Karen Carty. "It was a great experience last year and we're looking forward to a bigger and better event this year."
Buccaneer Madness is free and open to the public. Live performances and other entertainment will be provided. Prizes and giveaways will be on hand for spectators in attendance. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the event begins at 7:30 p.m.
