Ashukamay'ah Phillips Named to All-HBCUAC Second Team
Sophomore guard Ashukamay’ah Phillips of the University of the Virgin Islands Lady Buccaneers has been honored with a spot on the All-HBCUAC Second Team, recognizing her exceptional performance throughout the basketball season.
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Lady Buccaneers fell short in a 70-59 loss to Philander Smith University in the opening round of the 2025 Hope Credit Union Basketball Championships hosted by the Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC). Unfortunately, this loss in the single-elimination tournament marked the end of the Lady Buccaneers' season and their championship hopes.

LaCour Secures Two HBCUAC Weekly Awards
Senior guard Maliah LaCour of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Lady Buccaneers basketball team has recently been recognized for her outstanding performance on the court. LaCour has been honored with two Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference Weekly awards, specifically the Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week awards.
University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Women's basketball student-athlete Kashay Bass was honored with the Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Defensive Player of the Week award for the Week of February 17-23.This marks first time a Lady Buccaneer has received the award.
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Lady Buccaneers have concluded their regular season and are now preparing for the 2025 Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Hope Credit Union Basketball Tournament, which takes place at the Birthright Alumni Hall on the Campus of Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from February 25 to March 2.
The University of the Virgin Islands Lady Buccaneers emerged victorious in a Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) game against Wiley University after overcoming a double-digit first-half deficit to stun the Wildcats 67-60 on the team's Senior Night at the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center on Wednesday evening.
