UVI Athletics Announces Cancellation of Game Vs. Tougaloo

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands, February 20, 2025 – The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Athletics Department is announcing the cancellation of the men's and women's basketball home game against Tougaloo College, a member of the Historically Black College and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC).

Originally scheduled for February 15 as part of an HBCUAC doubleheader, the matchup with Tougaloo College was postponed to accommodate the visitors from Jackson, Mississippi. However, the game has now been officially canceled at the request of UVI's opponents and will be declared a forfeit.

This forfeit will result in wins for both UVI teams, which are crucial in determining the seedings for the upcoming HBCUAC Tournament. The tournament is set to take place from February 25 to March 2 at the Birthright Alumni Hall on the campus of Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

With this cancellation, the Buccaneers' final game of the regular season was played on Wednesday, February 19 when they faced the Wiley University Wildcats at the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center on Senior night.
