UVI Athletics Goes Live With Tickets And Indoor Spectator Policy

ST. THOMAS, V.I.   General admission tickets are now available for the inaugural UVI HBCU Basketball Classic, beginning Wednesday afternoon. The link for purchasing tickets is live at www.uviathletics.com/information/Tickets and on the Buccaneers Sports Network, UVI Athletics' official mobile app.

The online and user-friendly service is a result of the University of the Virgin Islands' partnership with HomeTown Ticketing. HomeTown Ticketing is now the official digital ticketing provider for Buccaneers' athletics and events inside the Sports & Fitness Center. The partnership will provide fans with the ability to buy tickets online with a completely touchless experience, as well as being able to provide UVI with additional security and improved reporting capabilities. Fans will have the option to print tickets at home or use mobile entry tickets, with both options allowing for safe, no-touch redemption inside the Sports & Fitness Center. Tickets purchased online can also be easily shared with family and friends through text.

Tickets for the UVI HBCU Basketball Classic are $15 for the general (vaccinated) public and $5 for faculty/staff and local high school students for each day. Tournament passes for the entire three days are also available at $30. V.I.P. and Mezzanine seating will be made available in the coming weeks.

"UVI Athletics is excited for the new partnership with Hometown Ticketing," said Dr. Jerel Drew, the Director of Athletics at UVI. "This new electronic ticketing option provides our fans and Buccaneers community the opportunity to safely purchase tickets in the luxury of their home."

Adding to the element of safety for fans is the Buccaneers' new Indoor Sports Spectator Policy, which states that all spectators and attendees must be vaccinated to enter the Sports & Fitness Center during UVI athletic events. All spectators inside the Sports & Fitness Center 12 years of age and older are required to provide proof of vaccination. Masks and social distancing will also be required at all times inside the arena. To accommodate the social distancing efforts, the capacity inside the Sports & Fitness Center has been reduced from a max of 3500 people to approximately 1200 people. The policy is in concurrence with the university's mandate that all on-campus students, faculty, and staff must be vaccinated. For more information on the Buccaneers' Indoor Spectator Policy, visit https://uviathletics.com/PDFs/UVI_Indoor_Spectator_Policy.pdf

For the University of the Virgin Islands HBCU Basketball Classic, fans can submit proof of vaccination to HBCUAthleticsvacs@uvi.edu. In all other events, attendees and fans can submit proof of vaccination to Athleticsvacs@uvi.edu.

The full Indoor Spectator Policy is available on our website, under the "Inside Athletics" section. Below are the guidelines of our Indoor Spectator Policy:

  1. Spectators will not be allowed inside the Sports & Fitness Center until an hour before the scheduled event.

  2. Immediately upon entry into the Sports & Fitness Center, spectators must submit to temperature screening via one of the two Zortemp 1000 Body Temperature Infrared Scanner Kiosks.

  3. Every section inside the arena has sanitization stations that feature wipes, hand sanitizer, and a garbage bin. Please locate these stations and use them before you sit down and after you get up.

  4. Please do not leave any trash in the bleachers, use the garbage bins to dispose of your waste.

  5. Everyone must wear masks (cover the nose and mouth) and stay socially distant (a minimum of six feet) from other spectators, or they will be asked to leave.

  6. No outside food or drinks. The concession (Buccaneers Cafe) stand will be fully operational. The only exception to always wearing your mask is when you are actively eating or drinking.

  7. If a spectator is under the age of 12, that spectator must sit with the legal guardian at all times.

  10. Fans who leave the arena will not be permitted to re-enter once the second half has begun.

  11. All events inside the Sports & Fitness Center require tickets.
