
Champion Christian Big Second Half Sinks Bucs

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Champion Christian was red hot from 3-point range in the second half knocking down 11 treys as they erased a 12-point second half deficit to beat the University of the Virgin Islands 90-73.
UVI led 41-30 at halftime and had its largest lead of the game 46-34 with 16 minutes left before the Tigers scored 54 points in the final 15 minutes behind the red hot 3-point shooting.
The Tigers improve to 2-1 while the Bucs drop to 0-7.
Naythan Shaw-Clarke had 19 of his team-high 23 points in the first half to lead UVI while Jalil Langston added 21 points and Eliyah Stevens was also in double figures with 16 points.
The Bucs scored eight straight to open up a 21-12 lead with 11:40 left in the first half.
The Tigers would cut the deficit to 25-22 before UVI answered with a 10-2 spurt to take a 35-24 lead capped on an old fashion three-point play by Shaw-Clarke. The Bucs led 41-30 at halftime.
UVI opened up its largest lead of the game, 46-34 before the Tigers scored 10 straight and used a 17-1 run to take a 51-48 lead.
Champion would later use an 8-2 run to take a 68-57 lead with eight minutes left.
UVI is back in action on Friday night at the ABC Basketball Classic when the Bucs take on host Arkansas Baptist at 8:00 CST.
