
Bucs Fall in Opener at Florida Memorial

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Cam'ron Wilson came off the bench and led Florida Memorial with 27 points in a 98-77 win over the University of the Virgin Islands.
Naythan Shaw-Clarke led UVI with 27 points, a season-high nine rebounds and a season-high eight assists while Jalil Langston added 22 points. Eliyah Stevens was also in double figures for the Bucs with 17 points to go with nine rebounds in the loss. The Bucs drop to 0-9. Florida Memorial is now 4-4 on the season.
The Bucs jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first four minutes of play. Florida Memorial would take the lead 27-24 with 5:18 left in the half.
The Lions led 38-32 at the half.
Florida Memorial would use a 12-5 spurt to open up a 78-63 lead with 7:33 left.
UVI shot 49.2 percent (31-63) from the field and made 1 of 4 from 3-point range while the Lions were 36 of 65 (55.4 percent) from the floor and connected on 10 of 33 (30.3 percent) from behind the arc.
The teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 EST.
